I'm serious, the musty book smell can go with the sweeter scents, or even other mustier scents such as voodoo bayou or my fave together is this and GHOSTLY CASTLE. I ordered this because I had a coupon and figured it was worth a shot. I didn't expect it to smell like a gothic library. What does a gothic library even smell like? IT SMELLS LIKE THIS! This is amazing! The scent is wonderful and does have a slight hint of something gothic that sparks curiosity. Go ahead and try it! It really is terrific!

This wax melt is very subtle. It does smell like an old library. I love the gray color, very suitable. It smells good and I like it a lot. I would say this is a living room or bedroom scent. I cannot really describe it other than it is somewhat neutral in the same way that eucalyptus is neutral but it is not strong like eucalyptus. It is not sweet. Maybe a "glum" scent but not in a negative way, more of a "mood" way. It is different. It is not bright and sunny. It's a dark and cloudy day scent.

This smells like my grandfather. It makes me smile and on rough days when I find I need just a little more comfort, I put one in and it's like I can feel his hug again. It's my absolute favorite and I surprised my mom with this candle for Christmas. I lit it that morning and she cried happy tears. It was like having a missing piece back in our lives for a few hours.

So when I first smelled this cold in the package, all I could smell was the musty part. And I thought... “ugh.” But I decided to give it a chance and put it in the melt pot. Oh. Wow! It smells like vaulted plaster ceilings, mahogany carved arches, deep bookshelves, mullioned windows, old books, leather chairs, warm candles and oil lamps. I love it. I’m so glad I tried it - one of my favorite Spireside scents.

But YALL NEED TO MELT THIS WITH GHOSTLY CASTLE holy f**** this is the perfect combo and the holy duet.
I cut half a cube of each and melt together and it smells JUST like an old gothic library inside of an old creepy medieval castle full of cozy cushy arm chairs and reading nooks, a grand fireplace that probably hasn’t been lit in a while and musty dusty comfort.
I’m not kidding SPIRESIDE.. I want bucket sized candles and ROOM SPRAY please.

This is my new Spireside favorite! Today is a Sunday morning and I have this wax melting as I sit here reading a vampire novel, while a gothic ambience plays in the background. Truly cannot recommend this one enough! Such a cozy, mysterious, alluring scent! I love it.

I've had a "old books and parchment" candles before from other places, but none of them hit the mark like this one. It's crisp and light but with a subtle "musty/ antique" scent. I know the word musty may give you pause, but I can't recommend this scent more! It reminds me of an old bookshop that I used to go to years ago.

I don't know how they do it, but this scent is amazing. Its light, and fresh, clean, but doesn't smell like soap. It smells exactly how it is described, but the "musty and dusty" smells are not offputting as you would imagine. One of my favorites - all year round!

If the word "epic" has a scent, this is it. It's a fragrance that I can feel in my soul. It takes me on a medieval adventure every time I breathe it in. I can always picture being in a large stone walled library with a landscape of snowy mountains peering in the windows. I wish this came in soap form! Best smell ever.

Based on the description I was a little skeptical. I worked in a library for years and know that 'musty book' smell is actually not always entirely pleasant. This candle takes the best elements of old book smell and leaves the slightly moldier notes. It's a very straightforward scent - straight up academia! I have an open floorplan house, so I burn this on one side of the house and Ghostly Castle on the other. The combination of the two is divine - the grass note in GC freshens up Gothic Library just enough to keep it from being overly dusty. It's my perfect combination for writing on a warm evening while there's a pandemic running about. Talk about atmosphere!

These candles are so strong! I am impressed by how much they scent a room. This one was the one I was most excited about since I worked in an actual gothic library to do research years ago. It doesn't smell exactly like that place but it is reminiscent of old spaces. Very musky, masculine scent. I like it!

If your nose likes acquired scents, this one is for you. I can’t even describe it. Very different than your normal home scents. If you are not one to try new things, don’t bother. If you are on board to explore your senses, give it a try. I love it but I’m not hard to please :)
